Ask Adam:
Episode 013: Can Theft Ever Be Done Away With?

Listen NOW!

How’s that Utopian society going for you? Is everyone following that golden rule? Doing unto others what they would do for themselves? Hurd has a question that rocks the concept of a perfect society.

Do you think that theft can be done away with in a society, if the
abolishment of capital, private property, and total employment based off of
natural ability (like the military ASVAB)?

Forget money! We don’t need to buy stuff! Why can’t we have a society where people don’t really own anything and all private property isn’t even private? Heck, let’s give people jobs based on what their strengths and weaknesses are!

Adam let’s us know why we have money and private property and why it’s better not to give jobs based on natural ability. Socialism, communism, utopia and of course society as a whole are discussed.

oh yha, also do you think is we changed our culture, which we know evolves just look at the past 50 years, we could at least reduce theft?

i was also thinking about Israel, a real world representation of a democratic socialist society. all homes, cars, schools, even fire arms are public property however everyone must spend two years in the military, so there is that higher work and honer morality.

if that is at all clear. i am sorry i spent almost 9 hours in the biblioteca today.

I didn’t know that about Israel. But I did find these interesting stats:
      Israel Crime
      United States Crime
Note the use of the Death Penalty in the U.S. but not Israel as well. What does this mean? I don’t know. But the monkey-wrench in these stats is the statement about Israeli crime: “The vast majority of violent attacks are due to the Israeliā€“Palestinian conflict”.

I don’t believe we have “evolved” as a culture necessarily. I’m in the mindset that I wish we did, instead we go with the flow. People follow their peers and are swayed by those immediate to them. It just takes enough. The issue here is that we are degenerating and issues like this are MORE common than say, 50 years ago. I would love if there was a means to have a world where theft and honor were mainstays and staples to the community at large but it just cannot be. I believe in micro-environments attempting this but I think they will indeed be the minority. To be fair, the Amish way of life is close…which is funny considering that they are indeed Communal…and Communist holdovers. In many ways they do understand, but this works in only small centers where everyone has the power over their neighbor directly. When a person has to see the faces of those around them, they are more likely to respect them and treat them as a fellow human being. -The Adam

I have graciously taken the time to allow you to see what greatness is. You'll not attain greatness yourself, but you can be sharpened against it by observing others as imperfect as yourself standing proud in your humility. Adam allows you to do yourself the favor of joining a community of lesser beings so that you might witness greatness in a way you'll never be stimulated with again.
